Most of the battery packs for research and testing come out of damaged or totaled hybrid vehicles, so Valvoline is extending their useful life while gaining more insight into how they operate, all before sending them off to be recycled.

“We’re testing nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery packs to assess their health and measure longevity, says Dale Reid, Valvoline EV Project Manager. “Working with BIC, we develop tests, and then put the batteries through real-world conditions.”
